UPI limit per day: ₹1 lakh for most payments, and up to ₹10 lakh a day for some categories.
The National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) and the Reserve Bank of India set the ceilings; your bank and app can set lower ones. For ordinary person-to-person (P2P) and person-to-merchant payments the limit is ₹1 lakh per transaction, as the RBI stated in its policy statement of 9 April 2025. Since 15 September 2025, NPCI allows up to ₹5 lakh per transaction and ₹10 lakh a day for payments such as capital markets, insurance, travel and loan collections.
