Need a quick break ? Head to Kerela

The big city life does hit you every now and then. And then stress, tiredness, mood swings, depression strike you hard. There is only one sure shot way to overcome all this problem-just take a break, go on a short and a quick trip. It doesn’t have to be pre planned; the spur of the moment trip is really therapeutic.

There are a lot of options for a quickie and my personal favourite is Kerala. Let’s just look at some calm places in Kerala, where you can simply sit back and chill.

Kochi has some really beautiful resorts where you can just laze around. One of them is the Saj Earth Resort, very close to the Kochi Airport, where I got a chance to spend a serene evening. The resort is made on the lines of Venice – rooms surrounding a huge swimming pool.

While during the day, you can sit outside your room with your feet dipped in the pool water, at night, enjoy a lazy dinner and drinks with live soft music in the garden restaurant. I’ve been there once and I’ll definitely go back when I want to relax. You too can head to one such resort in Kochi and unwind

Of course, we know how beautiful the backwaters of Kerala are. While most people head to Allepey, the backwaters of Kumarakoram are less crowded and hence, the best place to relax. Stay at any one of the resorts on the banks of the waterbodies and just go fishing.

At some resorts, like Lakesong, your room opens to a balcony and a small water passage. You can meditate in the greens of the balcony, sit with a fishing rod into that water passage or just play with the ducks. In fact, you can take a ride in a small boat around the resort in that little water passage. A calm and silent night on the houseboat is like a cherry on top of the cake.

You get the backwaters and then you get the hills. Isn’t it just a perfect relaxation package? Spend some days unwinding at a resort, then on the backwaters and then head to Munnar. The hills of Munnar are unlike those in other hill stations. The tea plantations on the hills make for a sight that feels like bliss. It’s so pleasing to the eyes that you completely forget all your worries. Sip your tea and lose yourself in these tea hills.

Reaching Kochi doesn’t burn a hole in your pocket. Just book any one of the low-cost domestic flights and you’ll be sorted. For going to Kumarakoram and Munnar from Kochi, look for cab services online and choose the best one instead of asking the staff of a hotel or resort. That’ll be a better deal for you.
