Author Sakshi Salve debuts with The Big Indian Wedding The Ultimate Guide for Dummies

Mumbai,Kabir Ali

Sakshi Salve – author, chef, humorist, and keen observer of the changing consumer behaviors in India – has launched her first book– The Big Indian Wedding, The Ultimate Guide for Dummies, published by RUPA, at a press event in Mumbai today.

The book was launched by Amitabh Bachchan at a high profile, start-studded event held at the Astor Ballroom, Level 9, at The St. Regis Mumbai. The event was followed by an after party at Exo.

Salve’s book is a satirical account of the excesses of modern-day Indian weddings and highlights why weddings are a serious yet crazy business in India. The book’s colorful cover and vibrant illustrations depict the book’s cheerful and witty mood.

In a first of its kind effort, Salve’s book has been brought alive through an entertaining music video- the ‘Teddy Bear’ song, sung and composed by renowned singer Kanika Kapoor. Through the peppy, foot tapping song, Kanika and Gautam Gulati accentuate the book’s anecdotes and the larger-than-life life styles mentioned in the book. Salve will also be seen with her book in the music video, one that promises to be the next chartbuster in the country.

The book is an ultimate compendium to the Indian marriage adventure, melded with quirky illustrations and my own imagination,” said Sakshi Salve, at the release event of her book.

The song was an unusual idea, something that has never been done before. We call it book-usic. It was a great experience working with some amazing talent in the industry – singer and composer Kanika Kapoor, lyricist Shabbir Ahmed and music video director Fazal Mehmood. I hope everyone enjoys listening and grooving to it as much as we enjoyed when putting it together.” she added.

Salve’s maiden book has a witty and unconventional foreword by marketing guru Suhel Seth.

Present at the launch event, Suhel Seth said, “Sakshi Salve’s book is delightful and amusing. The book evocatively puts forth both the plight and passion of the Indian wedding. And in doing so, Sakshi opens a wonderful world of which even though we may have been part, we never stopped to ponder over or stooped to conquer.”

The book takes the reader through real life instances and accounts of soon to be married couples, spanning love, family, proposal, dating to the actual wedding – planning, bachelorette, finally culminating into the ‘saat pheras’.

The event is designed by Varun Bahl’s Luxury bespoke wedding design company Aurum. With Swarovski invites, an Audi installation at the venue and bar on the wheels, the décor brought the book alive. The 6,500 square feet space of pillar-less luxury, the Astor Ballroom at The St. Regis looked impeccable. The St. Regis Mumbai is South Asia’s first and made its debut in September, 2015. It is the tallest hotel in the country.

Priced at Rs. 295/-, the book will be available across bookstores in India and online.

Grab your copy now and get ready to immerse yourself in this hysterical Indian wedding drama that is an integral part of Indian marriages.
