The Nalanda Foundation is stepping in its second edition of Ace Chef Competition. The Foundation has done various activities and events with students which help them showcase their talent and skills, one of them was today where they welcomed students from various schools to participate in the 2nd NLFP Ace Chef Competition. This competition gave an opportunity to students to come together and portray their cooking skills. The event kicked off at 9am at the Sunville Banquets situated at Worli.
Well known schools like Xaviers Boys Academy, Greenlawns, Breach Candy, Alexander Girls School, JBCN Parel, JBCN Borivili, Bal Mohan VidyaMandir, Shishuvan Lady Engineer, and Reach& Nalanda participated in this event.
The competition was judged by Navidakhtar A. Sayyad, Executive Chef of The Orchid, Chef Vikram Singh, Senior CDP, Orchid, and Santa B Roka, Executive Chef, Deluxe Caterers, Sunville BanquetsPvt. Ltd. After the competition, Chef Vikram Singh, a qualified chef presented the Live Demonstration of some Quick Fix recipes. The students were given an hour to present their dish and were all ready with their ingredient bag. Taking care of their safety they were asked not to use any electronic equipment. The students were divided in two categories. Juniors comprised of students from V to VIII Std while seniors comprised of students from IX and X Std.
The juniors made some delicious salad and sandwiches while the seniors made some mouth melting desserts and starter of their choice. Judged on creativity, presentation, timing and taste of dish the top 3 winners were felicitated and every child was given a participation certificate.

3) Alexandra School – Shafa Patrawala, Sushmita Shirvadekar
Navidakhtar A. Sayyad Judge for the 2nd NLFP Ace Chef Competition was really glad to be a part of a healthy competition and said “I was very humbled to be a judge of such a wonderful competition, seeing students at such a young age participating in a healthy cooking competition was a great experience. Nalanda Foundation is doing some great work and I am very humbled that I got an opportunity to be part of it today.”
The Director of the Nalanda Foundation, Aarti Gandhi, says, “I am very happy to see students from various schools participating in the 2nd NLFP Ace Chef Competition. The Nalanda Foundation is very proud to see the effort put by students from various schools and participate in this event. We will be glad to see more of these students in the upcoming events and competitions in future.”
The Nalanda Foundation program started in 1998 by Infrastructure Leasing and Financial Services (IL & FS) with two students with learning disability. Nalanda Foundation puts forward a helping hand to students who are prone to learning disability and who cannot cope up with conventional teaching .They believe in developing a Childs confidence inspite of they having difficulties in learning. Nalanda Foundation has supported over 1000 students till date. Nalanda Foundation believes in giving an opportunity to help every child facing a disability. Making a child learn in a stress free environment is there main aim.
